Being vulnerable can be very challenging.  Especially when the past has shown us the dangers of sharing ourselves too deeply.  Yet true, authentic relationships are based on vulnerability.  We simply need to be discerning, have strong boundaries, and know the difference between boundaries and walls.

I’ve talked about dragons in the past, which is typically inspired by the saying “we need to slay our dragons.”  I use the terms inner demons and dragons in the same light.  They are beasts within us that hold us back from knowing and embracing who we really are.

Instead of fighting the beast within, that prevents you from getting to the Gold within you, I am going to invite you to tame and befriend your dragon.  Wouldn’t you like a creature of this magnitude and force be working with you, as an ally, instead of as an enemy?

If you are going through the painful process of recovery from Narcissistic Abuse you likely are aware of symptoms of complex Post Traumatic Stress and Addiction.  There is a draw to the very person whom you are desperately trying to get away from.  There is something called "The Stockholm Syndrome" where you are attracted to the dangerous individual, looking for some kind of safety there.  When you can face up to the addiction and approach your recovery from Narcissistic Abuse as a recovery from addiction, you will begin to turn your focus inward to your own healing and recovery, and have less focus "out there" on the Narcissistic individual.

In the age of cancel culture, parental alienation is becoming increasingly more common.  Not just with one parent keeping their minor children from the other parent, or poisoning their children against the parent, but Adult children are also turning against a parent or parents. 

Often where there is alienation of an adult child, there is some form of narcissism.  Either one or both parents are narcissistic, the adult child is narcissistic, or the adult child's partner or spouse is narcissistic.  Where there is narcissism there is a lack of forgiveness, blame, shame and projection.

Covert Narcissists are the ones you do not see right away.  It usually takes going deeper into a relationship with one to become aware of the narcissism.  It sneaks up on you.  This is different from Overt narcissism, which is much easier to see.

Toxic Positivity is often found in the Spiritual and the Law of Attraction communities as people commonly paint a pretty picture over a painful feeling or circumstance.  Ignoring how we really feel can be detrimental to our mental and emotional well-being.  Ignoring how others feel is invalidating and damaging to their mental and emotional well-being.

One thing that is completely off limits to narcissistic people is to talk about how you feel about their bad behavior.  This is sure to bring about the wrath of the narcissist.  If you are a product of a narcissistic family, relationships or society in general, you will have learned to sweep feelings of pain, disappointment, anger and hurt under the rug because these things are not safe to talk about.

In this episode of Pandoras Box, Kaleah talks about how the health and healing of our society is dependent upon our being honest with and communicating our feelings.  Even in the face of narcissistic rejection and abandonment.  Holding a narcissist accountable or communicating uncomfortable feelings will trigger core shame.  Since narcissism is a defense against shame, they will need to immediately offload their shame onto you.  Being masters of projection they set out to convince you that you are at fault for having and communicating your feelings.

We have to learn to stand up for ourselves and own our feelings regardless of how they will be perceived by others.  Our healing and the healing of society depends upon this.
